1874-S 25C Arrows MS67 PCGS. Briggs 1-A. In 1873, the standard weight of a quarter slightly increased from 6.22 grams to 6.25 grams. During 1873 and 1874, arrows were added to the design to designate the minor tenor change, part of a U.S. Mint shift toward the metric system. A dollar in fractional silver coin weighed 25 grams, although the silver Trade dollar remained unchanged at 27.22 grams, and when the Morgan dollar was introduced in 1878, it retained the 26.73 gram weight of its Seated dollar predecessor. Dappled golden-brown, apple-green, and cream-gray toning graces this fully struck and lustrous Superb Gem. The reverse and left obverse are virtually immaculate. Liberty's cheek and the right obverse field display unobtrusive contact. PCGS Population: 7 in 67, 0 finer (2/26).
