A few abrasions in the shield are well-hidden. Of the 24 die marriages of 1788 Massachusetts Cents, the Ryder 16-M is one of the rarer representatives, at R.5. However, it was once considered much rarer, with W.P. Keller suggesting just 3 known in 1961.
