1787 Connecticut Copper, Draped Bust Left, M. 33.34-Z.11, W-3860, R.5, AU55 NGC. Ex: Miller. 123.3 grains. Obverse die 33.34 is known with reverse dies W.2, Z.3, and Z.11. Reverse die Z.11 is known with obverse dies 33.20, 33.28, 33.33, 33.34, 33.37, and 33.41. A handful of About Uncirculated examples exist of this popular die combination, and some are a touch sharper at the centers than this one. However, few can match this coin for its Choice surfaces, color, and overall eye appeal. The coin traces back to Henry Miller's collection sold by Thomas Elder in 1920, before settling in the Ford collection many years later. Jon Hanson brought the coin to Donald G. Partrick in 2005. Glossy medium-brown surfaces retain glints of mint luster - nicely centered within near-perfect rims - with original eye appeal seldom seen in the series. Listed on page 32 of the 2026
