1857 1C MS64 NGC. An especially well struck example of this Flying Eagle cent, that is all too often seen weak on the head or tail of the eagle, or both, as well as the reverse wreath. The luminous fields shine brightly through the reddish-brown and tan-gray color that is intermingled over each side. A pleasing coin for the 19th century type collector.

1869/69 1C MS66 Brown NGC. FS-008.3, Snow-3. The obverse has a thin die crack from the top of the digit 1, and a small rust lump on the Indian's cheek. This is the variety that was once called an "1869/8" overdate, although more recently it has been shown that this is actually a recut date, and not a true overdate. It is still an important and highly collectible variety. Sharply struck and fully lustrous with pristine surfaces. Both sides are mostly medium olive-brown, although with considerable original red color remaining.

1910 1C Lincoln Cent Obverse Uniface Test Strike. AU58 PCGS. Struck on slightly larger than normal planchet with a very deep and bold strike. Traces of mint red in the protected areas and no disfiguring spots are present. This coin was probably made to test the die and striking pressure needed to bring up the device detail fully. An unusual item which is seldom offered and undoubtedly rare.

There is less actual wear than the grade implies, although light marks from circulation are apparent. Struck on a dime blank that never made it through the upset mill. The 1955-S cent is a popular issue, since the San Francisco Mint temporarily stopped coinage that year.

1980-D 1C Lincoln Cent Struck on a 93% Silver and 7% Copper Planchet. MS62 NGC. 2.4 grains. A frosty Mint State coin that is struck on the wrong planchet, which appears to be slightly smaller than the usual Lincoln cent flan as the lower obverse devices extend beyond the rim. A few minor surface lines are present, and some of these may have been present on the original blank planchet. Not only is this a wrong planchet, but even more desirable as the Lincoln cent should not have been struck on a white or silver colored planchet.

Roosevelt's portrait is nearly horizontal relative to Lincoln, and the World War II president gazes skyward. No marks are detected.

This lustrous piece is pleasing aside from minor exposure of the clad layer near 4 o'clock on the obverse.
