1870-CC $1 -- Obverse Scratched -- NGC Details. AU. Variety 2-E. Despite a mintage of 12,462 pieces, three obverse and five reverse dies were used to coin 1870-CC dollars. Presumably, several small deliveries at Carson City were interspersed with other denominations. A lightly circulated example, richly toned dove-gray, golden-brown, plum-mauve, and navy-blue. Two thin test marks near star 12 explain the NGC designation.(Registry values: N2998)
