Some Luster Remains
1870-S $5 XF45 PCGS. Likely fewer than 100 gradable 1870-S
half eagles are known, and none are in Mint State. This Choice XF
representative displays sharp detail for the grade and deep
orange-gold patina. Remnants of luster remain in the protected
regions. There is a small planchet void over the U in UNITED, as
struck. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 16 in 45, 20
