Scarce 1872-S Half Eagle, AU53
1872-S $5 AU53 NGC. Bright tan luster dominates the reverse periphery and fills the plumage and hair. Void of detrimental marks, and the strike is good despite the usual incompleteness of the eagle's neck and fletchings. Just 36,400 pieces were struck. Census: 16 in 53, 27 finer (5/09).From The Kiawah Collection.(Registry values: P3)
