Low Mintage of 1,862 Proofs

1896 5C PR67 PCGS. CAC. Liberty nickel proof production reached its lowest point to date in 1896, when 1,862 specimens were struck. A relatively low total of 8.8 million circulation strikes were also manufactured. Near-flawless surfaces display a moderate degree of field reflectivity and attractive glints of rose-gold under proper lighting conditions. This Superb Gem proof ranks among the top non-Cameo coins at both services. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 3 in 67, 4 finer, including Cameo and Deep Cameo. CAC: 2 in 67, 0 finer (9/17).
