Description

1835 Cent, MS64 Red and Brown
Newcomb-5, Small 8

1835 1C Small 8 and Stars, N-5, R.2, MS64 Red and Brown PCGS. Die State b/d. The reverse dentils are distorted but remain mostly visible. This Choice Red and Brown example is well struck on the central devices, but the peripheral stars are typically weak. Copper-red luster emerges from the protected regions of the fields, complementing a balance of burgundy toning elsewhere. Some faint marks on Liberty's cheek prevent a finer grade.
From The Maurice Storck Collection.
