Description
Desirable MS61 1860-D Gold Dollar
1860-D G$1 MS61 PCGS. Variety 12-P, the sole variety for the year. This issue's stated mintage of 1,566 pieces has been noted as misleading, since a surprisingly high proportion of survivors (5% or more) is known to exist today. Still, the issue is scarce in all grades and a rarity at any Mint State level. This gleaming piece have vibrant yellow-gold surfaces that offer a degree of flashiness. Softly struck on each side, as always, yet with no trace of wear and few overt abrasions. An excellent candidate for the high-end collector of Dahlonega gold. Population: 8 in 61, 3 finer (9/08).(Registry values: N7079)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25CS, PCGS# 7556, Greysheet# 8084)
Weight: 1.67 grams
