SHARP 1793 SHELDON-6 WREATH CENT

1793 S-6 R3 Wreath Cent AU53 PCGS. Glossy tan and medium brown with small puffs of darker chocolate brown toning on the obverse, mostly in the field behind the portrait. Sharply struck with smooth surfaces and excellent eye appeal. Hints of underlying mint frost show in protected areas on the reverse. The only notable contact mark is a scratch from the ear lobe through the hair into the field between two strands of hair. The scratch is mostly hidden in the hair details and has minimal effect on the eye appeal. The other notable mark is a microscopic planchet fissure that meanders from the bottom of the I in LIBERTY into the hair ending just left of the temple (as made). Struck very slightly off center to K-2.5 leaving some of the border beads on the right side of the obverse tight to the edge of the planchet. MDS, Breen state III. The bulge in the field behind the portrait reaches the jaw and there is a faint bulge into the field from the lower lip. Graded net VF35 and tied for CC#13 in the Noyes census, his photo #29705. This cataloger's EAC grade is net EF40. The attribution and Nancy & Bryan Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS Gold Shield label. PCGS population 2; 1 finer in 55. 35450.53/38085770.
