"Real Companhia Velha Porto" silver Medal "1756-R" ND MS63 PCGS, 36mm. Obv. Laureate and draped bust of Dom José r., founder of the Company, R and date 1756 below - done in the style of a Brazilian "Joe" of that period. Rev. Portuguese Arms at center supported at right by figure holding a bunch of grapes, and on the left by a dragon, company name around.Established in 1756 by José I, the Companhia Geral da Agricultura das Vinhas do Alto Douro was a royal monopoly regulating the manufacture and trade of Port Wines.
