Description

Distinctive 1909-D Five Dollar, MS64

1909-D $5 MS64 PCGS. The 1909-D is generally considered to be the most common date of the Indian Head five dollar series. A glance at the PCGS/NGC population data corroborates this, as several thousand pieces have been certified, right through the MS64 level. That said, this near-Gem specimen stands out, "common" or not. Moreover, this is the finest grade most collectors will encounter, as higher-grade pieces are scarce to rare.
The following attributes distinguish this coin: it possesses beautiful apricot-gold color with light green highlights; its design features are exquisitely defined; it has pleasing frosty luster; and it reveals just a few minor marks that barely keep it from Gem status.. In sum, it generates great eye appeal for the grade designation. Housed in a green-label holder.(Registry values: N2998)
