1878 7TF Reverse of 1878 MS66 Prooflike
1878 7TF $1 Reverse of 1878 MS66 Prooflike PCGS. Ex: Cajun Collection. VAM-82. LIBERTY, the date, and some of the obverse stars are doubled on this VAM variety. A flashy and remarkably smooth Premium Gem with noticeable frost on the portrait. Well struck save for the right claw and the base of the wreath. Essentially brilliant, although a trace of gold toning is present over the denticles. Since PCGS has not encapsulated any Second Reverse dollar as MS67 Prooflike or MS66 DMPL, the present piece is thus tied with one other (as of 6/07) for the honor of finest certified at PCGS.
