Description

James III bronze "Restoration of the Kingdom" Medal 1708-Dated MS62 Brown NGC, Eimer-427, MI-313-314 (Plate CXXVI, Number 5). By N. Roettier. 30mm. Issued by James III 'Elder Pretender' for the Planned French Invasion of Britain, during the War of the Spanish Succession, when the French planned to dispense a number of troops to Scotland to support the restoration of James Francis Edward Stuart to the throne of Great Britain. This sending of troops to Scotland by the French was primarily a tactic to draw British resources away from the War of the Spanish Succession, not necessarily to successfully reinstate James to power.

Metal: Bronze
