Description

A Highly Visible Chilean Host

Pedro I 960 Reis 1823-R AU Details (Cleaned) NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM368.1, LMB-504. SIGNO above crown. First year of issue. Struck on a Chile Republic "Volcano" Peso 1821 So-FD. The grade qualifier applied to this long-ago cleaned piece little affects in its interest to 960 Reis Type collectors. Though rendered with a balanced strike, this piece retains a remarkably visible host where one can appreciate PESO above the iconic Volcano plume underlying the obverse; the reverse presenting the characteristic Chilean pillar under the 960's shield with host's date and assayer also discernible.
