SICILY. Syracuse. Dionysius I (405-367 BC). AR tetradrachm (23mm, 17.22 gm, 9h). NGC Choice VF 4/5 - 4/5, Fine Style. Reverse die signed by Eucleidas ca. 400-390 BC. Charioteer driving unruly quadriga galloping left, kentron in right hand, reins in both; Nike flying right above, crowning charioteer with wreath held in both hands, dolphin left in exergue / ΣYPAKOΣIΩN, head of Arethusa left, hair in wide ampyxes, upswept at temple and flying loosely upward behind, wearing double-loop earring and plain necklace with frontal pendant; four dolphins swimming around, die-engraver's signature EYKLEI on scroll below neck truncation.
