Napoleon bronze "Legion of Honor" Medal 1804-Dated MS65 Brown NGC, Bramsen-310, Julius-1239. 40mm. By B. Andrieu and L. Jaley. Obv. Laureate head right. Rev. Legion d'Honneur cross over wreath of oak and laurel, the order's motto Honneur et Patrie ("Honour and Fatherland") in center. Established in 1802 by Napoleon himself, the Legion of Honor is the highest French order of merit (both military and civil); shown here with stunning hints of light rose toning. Always a popular and sought-after type in this fine state of preservation.
