USA Administration "Manila Bay Treasure" 50 Centavos 1936-M Sea Salvaged NGC, Manila mint, KM176. A testimony of a historic WWII moment.

In late 1941, upon Japanese invasion of the Philippines, General MacArthur ordered US forces to dump millions of Dollars in silver coins into Manila Bay in efforts to avoid plundering by the invaders. The occupiers forced the local divers to recover the silver, but thousands of coins have been salvaged from Manila Bay since the war, with many more yet to be found.
