Description

Ferdinand VII 2 Reales 1821-BS, Caracas mint KMC-6.2 (transposed lions), Stohr-11-C6 (var. c), AU Details (Surface Hairlines) NGC, 110,000 minted per Stohr. Gently cleaned on the obverse long ago (the surfaces on the reverse are pristine) and now nicely retoned. Well struck and showing but little wear, this piece still ranks among the finest of this very scarce or rare date that the cataloguer has seen - the nicest being perhaps the beautiful Norweb piece (Christie's Dallas 11/1985, lot 976). This piece pales in comparison when the former two lots but it's condition rarity will not be ignored by the connoisseur of this challenging series. Much superior to the Hungtinton (Morton and Eden, 3/2013, lot 549, a F-VF coin) recently sold.

Metal: Silver
Diameter: 24.00mm
