Description
Broadstruck, Brockage 1989-P Kennedy Half MS65
1989-P 50C Kennedy Half--Multi-Struck Brockage and Broadstrike--MS65 PCGS. This dramatic broadstrike half is approximately the diameter of a silver dollar. Incused reverse design elements near 3 o'clock and a very faint portrait of Kennedy suggest the piece was initially struck through a late stage obverse die cap. The obverse has a 35% brockage of the heraldic eagle between 9 o'clock and 1:30, presumably from the dislodged die cap during the second strike. The force of the strikes has caused a minor planchet split at 9 o'clock. The 89 in the date and the P mintmark are legible upon patient inspection.
