Description

George V gold Sovereign 1917-C MS65 PCGS, Ottawa mint, KM20. Just as the first year (1911) of this Charles V type had a very high listed mintage, so do the final three years of the type (1917,1918, and 1919). While the 1911 has a huge number of coins certified in MS64, quite a few in MS65, and coins in MS66, and MS67, the 1917-C has quite a number in MS64, and this single piece certified in MS65, with no other coins certified finer, making this example the finest known of the issue. Sparkling gold luster, with a nice strike and minor marks consistent with the grade.
