Description
Rare Dynastic Denarius
Septimius Severus (AD 193-211), with Caracalla and Geta as Caesar. AR denarius (18mm, 3.23 gm, 6h). Rome, AD 201-202. SEVERVS PIVS AVG, laureate head of Septimius Severus right / AETERNIT IMPERI, laureate head of Caracalla right, facing bare head of Geta left. RIC IV 252. RSC 7. Very rare, particularly this variety with heads of Caracalla and Geta instead of draped busts. Minor flan crack at 5:00 obverse, otherwise well struck and attractively toned, surely one of the finest known specimens. NGC AU 5/5 - 5/5.Auction Info
