Description

Sensational 1907 Barber Half Dollar, MS66

1907 50C MS66 PCGS. For such a common, high-mintage issue, the 1907 Barber half has an extremely low population in Premium or Superb Gem quality. The mintage of nearly 2.6 million coins ranks 59th of 74 issues, but its PCGS MS66 or finer population ranks 24th. The Friend Collection boasts this splendid Premium Gem with frosty ivory luster, enhanced by lilac and rose at the upper left obverse, and with additional iridescent splashes. The reverse is a trifle weak at the junction of the right (facing) wing and the shield, a point of weakness on many different issues, perhaps because it is exactly opposite the highest point of Liberty's cheek. Population: 3 in 66, 1 finer (10/08).
