Description
Christian VI gold Ducat 1738 MS62 NGC, Copenhagen mint, KM542, Fr-248, Schou-1, Hede-3. A splendid two-year Ducat type picturing Fort Christiansborg, a castle on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea, in present day Osu, Ghana, that was the capital of Denmark's colonial territory in Africa known as the Danish Gold Coast. Danish gold from this period is scarce and thoroughly desirable, this selection is only a point below the L.E. Bruun specimen, a collection that has increased the visibility and popularity of Scandinavian numismatics. This well-preserved piece features simple but beautiful design features that are showcased on a glowing, orange gold flan. A type not often available at public auction, the possibly unfamiliar aesthetic is sure to entice the gaze of collectors from all over the globe. From the Eternal Collection, Part III
