Description

Brandenburg-Ansbach. Christiane Charlotte, as Regent Taler 1727-V MS64 NGC, Schwabach mint, KM159, Dav-1977, Klein/Raff-185. Mintmaster: Johann Jakob Ebenauer; Dies by Georg Wilhelm Vestner. Christiane Charlotte (of Wurttemberg-Winnental) ruled as regent of Brandenburg-Ansbach during her son Karl Wilhelm Friedrich's minority, he would have turned fifteen in 1727. A challenging Taler issue featuring a notably scarce portrait type, only available to collectors on a select few issues during her period as margravine from 1723 until 1729. This near-Gem piece was clearly created with the intent to produce a beautiful numismatic specimen, showing clear evidence of being struck multiple times; as a result, the detail rendered on the portrait and reverse shields is exquisite. The only perceived imperfection on this piece comes in the form of a "beauty mark" above her cheek. Two grade points below the MS66 Cape Coral Specimen, but a fantastic Taler in it's own right.
