Description

1783 C NOVA Nova Constellatio Copper, Pointed Rays, Large US, AU50 PCGS. Crosby 1-A, W-1860, R.4. Complete legends remain entirely "on the coin" on both sides despite a slight shift to the southwest as normally seen for the variety. The variety is notable for a curved row of dentil impressions at the upper obverse. Deep chocolate-brown surfaces show glossy luster that remains despite brief circulation. An attractive, sharply struck example of the issue, which is listed on page 54 of the 2016 Guide Book. Population: 10 in 50, 10 finer (8/15).

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2AYY, PCGS# 804, Greysheet# 90)
