Q. Pomponius Musa (56 BC). AR denarius (19mm, 3.33 gm, 9h). Rome. Laureate head of Apollo right; behind, two flutes in saltire / Q• POMPONI MVSA, Euterpe, the Muse of Lyric Poetry, standing right, left hand raised to chin, the right arm resting on a low pedestal and holding two pipes. Crawford 410/5. Sydenham 815. Pomponia 13. Nearly unnoticeable obverse test cut, otherwise a charming and pleasing specimen, with an unusually well struck and detailed figure of the Muse Euterpe. NGC XF 4/5 - 3/5, test cut.
