Description

1652 Oak Tree Shilling, AU58
Noe-7, W-480, IN at Bottom
Impressive High-Grade Example

1652 SHILNG Oak Tree Shilling AU58 NGC. Noe-7, W-480, R.6. IN at Bottom. 73.5 gns. This scarcer variety has a reengraved tree from Noe-6 on the obverse, paired with the reverse of Noe 4-6, seen here with a huge internal die cud below the 2 in the date. This piece shows slightly better-than-average planchet quality for the variety, with the tree weakly defined, as always. Deep gray-purple toning covers each side with slightly brighter accents over the high-points of the devices. An unusually high-grade example of this variety. Listed on page 39 of the 2015 Guide Book. NGC Census for IN at Bottom varieties: 4 in 58, 12 finer (6/14).
Ex: Central States Signature (Heritage, 5/2005), lot 5002.

Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 20, Greysheet# 8)
