Description

Republic 8 Reales 1885 Ca-MM MS66 NGC, Chihuahua mint, KM377.2. Not uncommon as a type, though extremely rare in this beauteous form, possessing some of the prettiest surfaces that this cataloguer has ever seen on an 8 Reales from the period. The colorful toning, while absolutely charming, is not overly dramatic in a way that comes across as artificial. In the same way, the pristine fields were the likely beneficiary of recently cleaned dies, though they do not suffer from the appearance of having been polished.
