1787 New Haven Restrike, MS64
N. 104-FF, Rare Brass Striking

1787 1C New Haven Brass MS64 PCGS. CAC. N. 104-FF, W-17560. Thin rings and a prominent chin on the sun identify the "New Haven Restrike," an engaging Fugio fantasy struck from copy dies in 1860 at Waterbury, Connecticut. Ever since, Fugio collectors have embraced the issue as part of the series. Most examples were struck in copper. Brass pieces are rare. The present satiny and unabraded near-Gem is mostly tan-brown with glimpses of peach-gold near the rims. Listed on page 88 of the 2014 Guide Book. Population: 2 in 64, 1 finer (1/14).
