Description

1804 B-1 Quarter, Fine 12
Heraldic Eagle Key Date
Green Label Holder

1804 25C B-1, R.3, Fine 12 PCGS. Tompkins Die State 2/2. The 1804 quarter dollar mintage was 6,738 pieces struck from two die pairs -- quite similar to the 1796 mintage, yet the 1804 quarters are rarer overall and especially in high grades. The federal quarter issue was no longer a curiosity and the coins circulated widely. B-1 is the more plentiful of the two 1804 die marriages, ideal for collectors seeking a single example of this key date. Smooth, bluish-brown and surfaces lighten to tan-brown at the high points. Smooth wear accounts for the Fine 12 grade, yet the motifs are well defined. The rims and dentils are clear except at the lower-right reverse, where the border is worn a bit weak. The surfaces are problem free and appealing for the grade.
