Description

Victoria "Large 9" 10 Cents 1892/1 MS62 PCGS, London mint, KM3. Obverse 6 variety. This extremely important overdate variety was struck with an 1891 Large 9 die that was repunched with a 2 over the 1. Aside from the large 9, the base of the 1 is visible beneath the right side of the base of the 2, and according to the Charlton Standard Catalogue, the portrait is defined as T6. This overdate variety is considered a major rarity from this early 10 Cents series, and at present time, PCGS has only certified nine pieces in all grades, with this offering having been awarded the only Mint State designation. An altogether well-preserved example, sharply detailed, and with a touch of champagne color across the otherwise argent surfaces.
