1862 1C MS66 PCGS. CAC. The 1862 is the date usually used for type purposes in the copper-nickel series. More than 28 million pieces were struck, and even with Civil War hoarding a sufficient number of higher grade examples still exist today. What sets this piece apart from many other copper-nickel type coins are the nearly unmellowed "white" surfaces of the high-nickel alloy. Well struck and remarkably abrasion-free.
