Description

1935 Buffalo Nickel, MS68
Superb Preservation and Luster
Among the Finest Certified

1935 5C MS68 PCGS. The 1935 Buffalo nickel is a plentiful late-series issue, although it becomes conditionally rare in MS68. Moreover, it may be rarer in MS68 than certification totals suggest. PCGS and NGC combined list 24 grading events in this top grade, but we have previously seen only three of these coins, which made a total of four appearances in our auctions between 2007 and 2024. The current offering is a fourth example to us, and it represents an essentially opportunity for the advanced Registry collector. Currently, only five of the top 10 Basic Sets, Circulation Strikes on the PCGS Set Registry contain a 1935 in MS68 (6/25).

This lovely piece displays glistening mint luster cast in delicate ice-blue hues with faint lilac accents. The fields are devoid of clashing or serious metal flow, and the border details are sharp on the bison's head and the tips of the Indian's feathers. The centermost high points show only trivial incompleteness. The Registry Set collector will not soon find a comparable example of this issue. Population: 8 in 68 (1 in 68+), 0 finer (6/25).(Registry values: N4719)
