Description

Lightly Toned, Premium Gem 1953 Half Dollar

1953 50C MS66 Full Bell Lines PCGS. The 1953-P has always been a collector favorite because of the low mintage of fewer than 2.8 million pieces, the lowest mintage in the series. It is also among the worst struck issues in the series, being comparable to the 1961-1963 issues among P-mint dates. Rick Tomaska closely parallels the 1953-P with the 1952-S in rarity and value for MS65-66 FBL specimens. Only 28 pieces have been so graded by PCGS with none finer (3/06). This piece has strong definition on the bell lines and thick mint luster. The obverse shows light, speckled toning on the left side of the obverse with hazy, lilac-rose coloration elsewhere.
