Description

Augsburg - Swedish Occupation. Gustav II Adolf Taler 1632 MS63 NGC, Augsburg mint, KM-A68, Dav-4543, AAJ-8, Forster-240. A supremely charming emission, produced in commemoration of Swedish King Gustav II Adolf (Gustavus Adolphus), who championed the Protestant cause during the Thirty Years' War, and was ultimately killed at the Battle of Lutzen in this same year. More often a type one hopes to find in at best problem-free AU grades, to locate a specimen so choice is quite simply a far-cry--a fact upheld by the existence of a single MS65 finer in NGC's census. Crisp to the extreme, with a profusion of the flow lines in the fields which is an instant trademark of high-quality type representatives.
