Description

1916 Cent, PR64 Red and Brown
Scarce Final-Year Matte Proof Issue

1916 1C PR64 Red and Brown NGC. Surrounded by the necessary flat, squared-off rim characteristic of all genuine 1916 matte proofs, this richly colorful Red and Brown example displays purple and blue overtones that overlay deep, brick-red coloration. The finely textured surfaces are sharply struck and free of any distractions. The reverse color is a bit less intense than the obverse, but adds vibrant fire-orange to the palette. Eye appeal is terrific. Census: 23 in 64 Red and Brown, 34 finer (3/19).
