Description

1836 Gobrecht Dollar, PR62
Judd-60 Original, Name on Base
Die Alignment I

1836 P$1 Name on Base, Judd-60 Original, Pollock-65, R.1 PR62 PCGS. Silver. Plain Edge. No Stars Obverse, Stars Reverse. Die Alignment I (coin turn, center of Liberty's head opposite the D in DOLLAR). Die State B, showing small die chips in the dentils above the final A in AMERICA, but lacking the other later-state markers such as the rim nicks above STATES and the clash in the field above the wing -- none of which are present. Judd-60 Originals are the most commonly seen Gobrecht dollars and represent the year/variety combination most suitable for type and date collectors. This is a sharp lower-end proof, with gleaming mirrored fields and brilliant surfaces. Scattered marks and hairlines limit the numeric grade as expected for the PR62 level.
