Description

Scarce V-2, LM-3 1803 Half Dime
Attractively Toned MS61

1803 H10C Large 8 MS61 NGC. V-2, LM-3, R.3. Technically the most accessible of three 1803 half dime die pairs, though still scarce regardless of grade and a great rarity in Mint State. Intact luster glimmers under layers of gold, green, and blue patina with a patch of peach at the central reverse. The strike is excellent, and aside from miscellaneous wispy marks and a rim bump at the upper obverse, the preservation is solid. Among the most eye-appealing examples available for this challenging date, followed by the 1805 and then a long gap until the 1829 Capped Bust variant. For all 1803 die pairs combined, Census: 3 in 61, 6 finer (1/12).(Registry values: P7)
