Description
Gem Red 1941 Doubled Die Cent
FS-103, Glowing Orange-Gold Coin
1941 1C Doubled Die Obverse MS65 Red PCGS. FS-103.
The doubling is evident only on selected areas: the earlobe, the 1
and 9, T and Y. This is one of the newer doubled dies, created with
a weak first hubbing that makes it perceptible only on high-grade
specimens such as the present piece. This is a glowing orange-gold
example that is fairly well-struck. The obverse is carbon-free; a
round gray spot on the coat is not carbon but rather is
water-spotting. A few tiny flecks appear under a loupe on the
reverse. Population: 2 in 65 Red, 3 finer (4/12).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22DW, Variety PCGS# 37786, Base PCGS# 92695, Greysheet# 285379)
Weight: 3.11 grams
