Description

1872-CC Double Eagle, AU Details
Old West Workhorse Twenty

1872-CC $20 -- Altered Surfaces -- PCGS Genuine. AU Details. Winter 2-C. Two die pairs struck the 26,900-piece mintage. This 1872-CC has the mintmark further right with the second C partly over the second T of TWENTY. Areas of rim filing and hairlines from subtle surface smoothing account for the PCGS Genuine grade. Despite the Altered Surfaces, this scarce Carson City date retains a good measure of eye appeal including partially lustrous orange-gold color and sharply struck motifs. Traces of reflectivity remain in the fields.

Note for clients in the European Union: This lot is considered by the European Union to be “investment gold”. We believe that it meets the criteria established in Article 344(1), point (2) of Council Directive 2006/112/EC and thus should be exempt from import VAT regardless of the selling price. Any questions or concerns about VAT should be addressed to your accountant or local tax authority.
