Description

1853 Twenty, MS61
Scarce in Mint State

1853 $20 MS61 PCGS. The surfaces show a moderate amount of coin-to-coin friction and abrasions, and the obverse was struck marginally off-center southeast, but nice luster remains intact. Few examples of the date are certified in Uncirculated condition, including a few pieces that were salvaged from the S.S. Central America and the S.S. Republic. This coin may or may not be one of those, since there is no indication on the holder. Population: 15 in 61, 25 finer (1/15).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 268M, PCGS# 8908, Greysheet# 9788)
