Description

1882-CC Liberty Half Eagle, MS61
Popular Carson City Type Issue

1882-CC $5 MS61 PCGS. CAC. Variety 1-A. The 1882-CC Liberty half eagle claims a mintage of 82,817 pieces, a substantial production total in the context of the series. As might be expected, the 1882-CC is a relatively available issue, though Mint State specimens are still quite elusive in absolute terms. The issue is in demand from series specialists and branch mint type collectors alike.

The present coin is an attractive MS61 example, with sharply detailed design elements in most areas, and just a slight touch of softness on the arrow fletchings. The lustrous orange-gold surfaces show the minimum number of minor contact marks for the grade. Population: 13 in 61, 8 finer. CAC: 3 in 61, 1 finer (10/17).(Registry values: P3)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25XH, PCGS# 8359, Greysheet# 9075)
