Description
1889-S Double Eagle, MS64
High-Grade With Blazing Silky Luster
1889-S $20 MS64 PCGS. Scintillating cartwheel luster covers
light-gold surfaces with rose highlights and is not interrupted by
notable abrasions. Strike is also impressive, with minimal missing
details. Many 1889-S double eagles were exported overseas and
subsequently repatriated. Their tenure in burlap sacks has caused
significant bagmarks on most known examples, with the most
prevalent grade being MS61 for NGC and MS62 for PCGS. This makes
the present example an anomaly on the upper end of the grade
distribution.(Registry values: N7079)From The Rockhampton Collection.
