Description
1911-S Ten Dollar, Bold MS65
Low Mintage, Just Two Finer at NGC
1911-S $10 MS65 NGC. Augustus Saint-Gaudens' relatively
short ten dollar gold set includes a handful of low-mintage issues,
and the 1911-S is one of them. Indeed, it claims the third lowest
production total among regular issues in the series after the 1908
No Motto and the 1911-D. Merely 51,000 coins were manufactured. The portrait detail, including the headdress feathers and hair curls, exhibit remarkably strong definition. It could hardly be sharper. The same is true for the reverse. Both sides are frosty and well-preserved with attractive apricot-gold color. Census: 10 in 65, 2 finer (6/23).(Registry values: N4719)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28GV, PCGS# 8870, Greysheet# 9767)
Weight: 16.72 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
