Description
1893-S Double Eagle, MS64
Only Two Coins Certified Finer
1893-S $20 MS64 PCGS Secure. Nearly 1 million double eagles
were struck at San Francisco in 1893, although this issue is
conditionally scarce today in MS64. PCGS lists two Gems finer, but
NGC shows none finer. This Choice example is realistically among
the finest pieces that most collectors can hope to acquire. Frosty
original luster shimmers beautifully as it illuminates pleasing
prairie-gold color on each side. The design elements are
well-defined and no distracting abrasions are seen. Population: 65
in 64 (2 in 64+), 2 finer (9/18).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26CA, PCGS# 9024, Greysheet# 9954)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
