João V gold 12800 Reis (Dobra) 1730-B AU Details (Cleaned) NGC, Bahia mint, KM147 (Rare), LMB-106, cf. Guimaraes-1730-5a (only a unique diagonal-edge piece listed). Third shield. Fleur-de-Lis over diagonal edge. The second key of the date and a whimsical one-year type where the shield shows labored curves with pendant flowers to the sides. Deeply engraved, displaying the captivating shield to its full glory and a detailed bust of João V, this impressive and scarce piece is tied with the RLM example for the finest details grade in the NGC census, where a single XF45 straight-grade is visible.
