Republic platinum Proof Piefort 50 Francs 1980 PR68 Ultra Cameo NGC, Paris mint, KM-P682, Gad-223.P3. Mintage: 34. An ultra-desirable modern emission, of impactful weight in-hand, with its Crown-sized planchet and Piefort style thickness made famous by the French. When encountered outside of the standard silver issues, gold Piefort renditions, while highly coveted in their own right, are seen with much more frequency than platinum examples. With no spotting or haze of note, this example has the appearance of a piece with a slightly higher designation.
