Description

1858-O Eagle, AU58
Scarce New Orleans Issue
Partially Prooflike

1858-O $10 AU58 PCGS. Variety 1. A vibrant, sun-gold example with partially prooflike fields, the reflectivity diminished only slightly by field chatter and light abrasions. With a circulation strike mintage of 20,000 pieces, the typical 1858-O survivor grades VF or XF-to-low-AU. Near-Mint or Uncirculated examples are scarce-to-rare -- highly sought by branch mint gold specialists. Orange accents add eye appeal to the sharply struck central devices of this attractive AU58 coin. Housed in a previous generation green label holder. Population: 14 in 58 (1 in 58+), 9 finer (9/19).(Registry values: N1793)
